Fort Worth Scottish Pipes and Drums
About the Band
Band History
In the year 2000, with generous startup funding from the Scottish Rite of Fort Worth, The Fort Worth Scottish Pipes & Drums (FWSPD) was formed and has continued a 20+ year journey of playing Scottish music for the benefit, enjoyment, and education of North Texans. FWSPD is made up of over 20 volunteer members who meet weekly for band practice and spend countless hours practicing on their own. Band members also take rigorous private instruction from world champion musicians and engage in solo and ensemble competitions.
Band Mission
To promote the art of Scottish highland piping and drumming in North Central Texas, especially Fort Worth. Also, to participate in and expand the global culture of bagpipe bands, and preserve and advance the culture and heritage of Scotland. FWSPD strives to educate the public in these areas.
Band Vision
FWSPD has the vision to grow the band size and skill level by inviting new students to join. We also encourage musicians who already have experience playing this music to join. The band wishes to gain a large audience within the North Central Texas region, by performing in a wide variety of public and private venues.
Band Goals
FWSPD has the ultimate goal of becoming a Grade 1 band where we will compete against the best bands from all over the world at competitions and highland games in North America and Scotland for the honor and glory of all Texans.
